Producing weekend services and other activities at Vernon Alliance requires a team effort! Numerous "behind the scenes" options exist, such as those involving lighting, videography, media presentation, audio recording and sound, photography, and more! Practical instruction is given!
Welcome guests as they enter the building at one of the weekend services, help them find their way and answer any questions they might have or direct them to the welcome desk. Once people are no longer entering the building, can be seated in the sanctuary.
Availability:
30 minutes before service
Welcome guests into the sanctuary, help them find a seat, assist the vulnerable and elderly, and tidy the pews. Count the people in your section. Hand out and collect hearing assist packs and cushions as requested. Assist in the event of an emergency or evacuation.

Set up the coffee station and prepare and serve coffee and tea both before and after the services. Can be seated in the sanctuary once the service begins but will return to serve just before the end of the service. Ensure the coffee area is left clean and tidy.

Ensure the welcome desk is well set up and neat. Welcome newcomers, help people get connected, assist with the debit machine, answer questions, help people find their way, and facilitate event and group sign-ups. Serve both before and after the service.

Occasionally oversee the Weekend Hospitality Team at the service you attend. Welcome the hospitality volunteers and help them if they require assistance. Find volunteers to fill last-minute open spots on the team if necessary. Oversee the communion team on communion weekends and assist them as required. Assist staff or custodial team in the event of an incident or emergency.

Help parents and kids register and/or log in to our check-in system. Respond to inquiries and point families in the right direction. Assist in keeping an eye on the safety and support of the kids in the ministry areas and assist in conducting headcounts to make sure every kid is present.

Oversee and mentor the Sunday school lessons for the preschoolers, ages 2-4. This involves playing with kids, leading a craft, and narrating a story. Lessons and all materials are included.

For sixth through ninth graders: Help the preschool instructor with the class on Sundays. Engage in games with the kids, help them with crafts, and help the teacher out whenever necessary.

You will be able to build relationships with a consistent group of kids in our kindergarten through fifth grade program. Once our big group story is over, you will lead the children through the provided activities.

Tell the children our weekly Bible story and its significance in an engaging way that they will find understandable. Scripts and props are provided and the story is expected to be told with few notes.

Our ministry, Reign, is intended especially for students in grades 6 through 12. Our goal is to establish a welcoming environment where all students feel accepted for who they are, and we pray that every student will experience the transformative power of Jesus. This is the place for you if you have a strong devotion to Jesus and the younger generation. Serving as a greeter, worship band member, small group facilitator, and more roles are available!
Volunteers will set up and tear down the Arbour for our Common Threads Guests. This includes preparing and packing donated food items, doing clean up and dishes during serving time, clothing and closet preparation, and interaction with Guests.

Sorting and Organizing assorted donated clothing items in preparation for Common Threads.

Volunteers for the Family Pantry set up the clothing racks in the Arbour. Price and stock the pantries with food, interact with guests and their families and then put everything away for the following week.

With a campus as large as ours, there are a variety of roles to fill to keep our yard and building prepared for ministry! From odd jobs, routine maintenance, and cleaning, to landscaping, snow removal and custodial support. There's a spot for any willing handyperson to help out!

The Gathering team is looking for women who would be willing to be trained to assist with the tech side of things at their worship events, such as band set up and tear down, adjusting the sound for the band and/or advancing the slides. For more information:
