VAC has partnered with Food for the Hungry since 2009. Food for the Hungry’s (FH) development model aims to work alongside churches in overcoming all forms of poverty. They seek holistic and sustainable change within vulnerable communities, and commits to a town until they are ready to graduate and can be self-sustaining. VAC has committed to the development of Xonca, Guatemala. For more information, check out FH’s website HERE.
Len Thiessen leads and organizes short-term missions trips to visit Xonca on a yearly basis to continue the relationships we have been building as a church. VAC also shows its support by child sponsorship and project funding. We’re aiming for graduation in 2020!

Since 2009, Vernon Alliance Church has been partnered with Food for the Hungry in Xonca, Guatemala. Over the last 14 years, our church has sent out 10 short-term mission teams who have assisted with several projects throughout Xonca and we are pleased to share that Vernon Alliance currently sponsors 99 school children!
Last year alone, we fundraised over $56,000 to support a project that brought running water to every home in this community. You can read more about the water project on page 11 of the report.
